The World YWCA Welcomes its New Deputy General Secretary
In January 2011, the World Office welcomed Michelle Higelin-Beg as the New Deputy General Secretary of the YWCA. Michelle has a long history with the YWCA movement. She is a former Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of Australia, where she managed the organisations human and financial resources and led the provision of policy advice to the Australian government on issues affecting women and girls. Michelle has also previously worked at the World YWCA as the Director of Campaigns and Communications, where she was responsible for driving the organisations campaign to expand opportunities and resources for the leadership development of women and girls and strengthening communications with members and partners. Michelle has also sat on many boards, including the boards of various Autralian-based youth and womens organisations. Prior to her appointment, Michelle was the General Manager of Cranlana Programme, a philanthropic organisation that promotes ethical and responsible leadership in Australian society.
